Nooks & Crannies
The first touch of morning sun floats across cool dew
Traversing through the deep green shade of an old tree
Making a radiant entrance across softly billowing bedroom curtains
Landing upon my exposed foot which has escaped the silky sheet

The gossamer golden light is nearly imperceptible in my sleeping state
Perhaps even providing a tale about which to dream - of sweet warmth
Yet, as it always does, the affect upon my repose is to gently wake
Slowly carrying me from the slumberwagon to the reality of a new day

With eyes still shut, but ears now open to the chorus of gleeful birdsong
My leg slides across the cool sheets, my cheek perceives the pillow
I feel the gentle breeze flow over me, brushing me with freshness
My first thoughts of consciousness arrive, and I think of only You
* * *
Lying still, wanting but to inhale the last tender feelings of a dream
I recognize then my reality, the new day, the warmth falling upon my foot
I open my eyes, examining my world of streaming sunlight
Which breaks through the last few moments of pre-dawn, and You are there
* * *
Between each nook and cranny of my awakening exists the thought of You
A dog, completing his evening’s sleep, yawns and blinks, and I think of You
The cat meowing for his breakfast a world away, but only down the stairs
Brings thoughts of sharing orange juice and blueberry muffins with only You
* * *
My day will be like this, as each day always is, as each day always will be
The drab routine of moving along a typical avenue, which is lit by the essence of You
Contemplating simple thoughts, resolving uncomplicated riddles, Thinking of You
Between each nook and cranny of my simple life lies the certainty of Love and You.
